Finding the Review Style that Works for You

You’ve probably heard the old saying, “There’s more than one way to skin a cat.” In fact, you’ve probably thought to yourself that the saying is not the most appealing adage, but there is definitely some truth to it. Well, whether you have heard the saying or not, it is important to remember that this adage applies not only to the way that you take your notes, but also to the way that you review your notes. This is because, just like there are a number of different ways in which you can take notes, there are also a number of different ways in which you can review your notes. It is important to note, however, that everyone learns in a different way, and the review style that works best for your classmates may not be the best style for you. This means that, for you to review your notes in the most effective way possible, you have to find a review style that works for you.

Finding a review style that works can be tricky, but there are three things that you will typically need to consider when you’re looking for a way to review.dreamstime_11823462

Three Review Styles

  • The first thing that you need to consider is the learning styles that the review style is intended for. This is important because some people are auditory learners, some are tactile learners, and some are visual learners, and each review style is intended for a specific type of learner or intended for a specific group of learners. This means that you need to make sure that the review style that you choose is suited for students that learn in a similar way to you.
  • The second thing that you need to consider is the purpose of the review style. This is important because different review styles are intended to prepare you for different things, and you need to make sure that you choose a review style that will prepare you for the thing that you need to prepare for. In other words, some review styles are specifically designed to help individuals that are trying to prepare for a career, an interview, a class test, a standardized test, your next class, and/or a number of other similar events. This means that you need to know what each review style is designed for and what it is not designed for.
  • The third and final thing that you need to consider is whether the review style will help you assess your knowledge of a subject. This is important because some review methods are not only designed to help you understand a topic, but also designed to help you identify the concepts that you don’t understand.
