There are a number of different things that you may have to do to take good notes. However, one of the things that you will always have to do is make sure that you are ready to learn as soon as you walk into the classroom. This is important because you have to be ready to listen to the information that your teacher or professor is trying to convey and record the most important points. Unfortunately, to record these points, you have to be ready to pay attention, and it can be very difficult to pay attention if the subject is boring or complicated and/or you just aren’t ready to do your best. This means that, for you to take good notes, you have to know how to make sure you are ready to learn and pay attention.
Three Basic Preparation Techniques
- First, try to make sure that you get at least eight hours of sleep every night before school. This is important because you have to be able to pay attention to take good notes, and the more tired you are, the more difficult it will be for you to focus on the material that the professor is covering. In fact, not getting enough sleep may not only make it more difficult for you to focus on the information, but it may also make it more difficult for you to understand the information that you are attempting to learn. This is because it’s very easy to miss some of the key details of a complicated concept when you’re already asleep on your desk.
- Secondly, try to make sure that you eat before you go to class. This is important because hungry people, just like tired people, have more trouble focusing on material than individuals that are well fed. This means that you have to have some sort of breakfast before class to ensure that you’re thinking about your notes and not your stomach.
- Third, when you’re sick, try to make sure that you don’t go to class or, at the very least, get as much sleep as possible before you go to class. This is important because you will typically have more trouble focusing on the information that you need to take notes on when you’re sick, and you can always borrow another student’s notes if you miss a class. This means that you will typically be better off if you stay home and get some sleep because you will be able to recover from your illness sooner and get back to taking good notes more quickly.
